1. People with stable lifes are much less likley to fuck them up
than people whose lives are already fucked up.

2. people that are in love with guns are already crazy and dangerous
why would ensuring they have a job make them any different?

5. You mean like my bro-in-law?
He has a bunch of guns and teaches Aikido. I am just waiting because, from what I have learned here on DU, he is gonna snap any minute now and mow down a bunch of nuns (well, on DU that might be acceptable, he might mow down some hippie vegans).

Yeah, I am scared of people who own guns. About a hundred million folks will snap any minute and mow me down. No wonder I drink.

3. When people have jobs and security in their lives, they don't feel so hopeless.
Hopelessness brings dispair, and dispair can lead to violence.

I'm no expert, and this is just my thoughts, but I can put myself in the place of people who really feel so lost. It must be terrible. These feelings can really overwhelm the mind. In my classroom, I've had children who have these feelings. They can act out. Not all of them do, but it isn't unheard of.

6. Yes, could decrease them. Stopping them altogether is illogical since
you can't stop everyone everytime doing anything bad. But decrease? Yes, of course.

8. I think it could decrease the headline making gun violence, yes.
The mass killings and family wipeouts we've been hearing more about lately, yes. I think the boiling undercurrent of gun violence in our (dare I say?) culture won't decrease so easily. We're always going to have crims, and because we're not the UK a good many of them will have guns.
