Thanks for posting this... I really hate trying to navigate that stupid place, but I appreciated finding the juicier tidbits posted here on DU!

:hi:

"Christianity, being the truth, is the only religion that the left (Satan’s useful idiot brigade) attacks.

We should expect it."

Uh, no, dumbass... we will, however, attack ANY religious stupidity that tries to worm it's filthy way into our Constitution or any of our laws!

Oh, if only they truly followed what Jesus said! They would realize that they are meant to be socialists;)

24. As a Christian , I never know what to think...
Edited on Mon Apr-06-09 04:22 PM by AnneD
of these threads. There are plenty of folks that project lots of hostility and bile toward people of faith-and I can understand-but make no mistake....some of these freepers bear no resemblance toward most Christian I know.

To be a Christian is to not fear death for Christ is with you. You are a child of a loving God. You know you are forgiven of sin. In fact, you welcome the opportunity to meet Christ-you are going home.

I just don't understand the paranoia and drama. If you lived a good life and believe in Christ-what do you have to worry about?

31. A perfectly disingenuous post was it not?
Edited on Mon Apr-06-09 06:15 PM by TWiley
The O.P. is a Buddhist who seems to be defiled by the spirit of disunity. A major no-no of the Buddhist faith, real followers would avoid the spirit of disunity as though it were anthrax. Maybe the attraction to Buddhism is simply a sexual one, and the lax (from an orthodox Christian-Muslim-Jewish standpoint) sexual morality implied in Buddhist teachings. Who knows. There are far worse reasons for choosing a religious faith, and the human rights implications are exemplary; for those who extend tolerance and love for people different than themselves. Not so much for those use it as a self-medicating con job while reaping the generosities of others and the tenants of their faith .

Myself, I am not religious at all, and have thrown my share of firey darts at people of all faiths. Wars between the religious affect those of us who are non-religious as well, and the fears of those taunted in her post can just as easily bring trouble to my own non-believing life. This is my dog in the fight.

I think it is more than a little disingenuous for one person of faith to attack another person of faith. Religious beliefs only make sense to those who believe them. To the rest of us, they are nonsense. And the "freepers" in this story are really no different than the intellectual-pride-with-a-halo Buddhists , the Muslims, or even the worst of fundamentalist Christianity.

Their arguments eventually turn into wars and their wars eventually affect me .... the non religious one.

Her tips on posting include these quotes:

1) make the most dire predictions your fevered imagination can conjure.

2) Throw in lots of buzz words: Fascist is good. Nazi is even better,

3) Spread a heavy duty unsubstantiated rumor; something like
El-Al won't be flying on September 14th, and use that "fact" as the
basis for a false flag operation taking place.

You can find it here: http://journals.democraticunderground.com/cali

You are perfectly correct in not knowing how to take her post. It was crafted that way.

38. oh my word. I can't even bring myself to alert- you're post is so funny.
you post the nastiest things about Christians here, of just about anyone on the board. In fact, yesterday, you posted something from the satire site, Landsdowne Baptist Church, seriously, in your pathetic attempt to prove that Christians are evil, evil, evil, and worse than the Taliban. And then, when people were pointing out to you that it was a satire site, you denied that you posted it seriously, when it couldn't have been clearer that that's exactly what you did. Lots of folks on the thread most amused by that pathetic little move.

You clearly know absolutely nothing about Buddhism, let alone why I was drawn to it. And I'm not about to attempt to explain anything about it to someone like you. Period. Your comments are as ignorant as sleazy, as transparently ugly as I would expect from you. pathetic.

Your post was nothing but a lame attempt to attack me. And you don't even have the guts to address it to me.

Now I'm going to go kick your moron thread of yesterday.

Oh, and genius, next time you choose to attack me, pick a better vehicle. It couldn't be clearer to a non diseased brain, that this post is simply about mocking freepers.

Now go suck on your hypocrisy juice, dearie.

42. I respect all religions......
Edited on Tue Apr-07-09 07:56 AM by AnneD
as a wise man (Bruce Lee) once said-religion is just a boat to help you cross the river. I figure those that are a-religious are just good swimmers. God tries to talk to you in the language you understand, be it Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, etc.

I am Christian, hubby is Hindu, and daughter is familiar with Judaism but likes Buddhism (she is still 'traveling'). We are bound by love and respect for each other.

43. I respect certain aspects of all religions and I don't respect
all practitioners of all religions. I don't respect people who practice hate and bigotry in the name of religion. And I don't respect 99% of Freepers- whatever their religion, due to their appalling bigotry.

I think the majority of people on this thread, as evidenced by their answers, knew that I wasn't poking fun at Christianity, but at idiot freepers.

They may not crow it to the heavens but most at least change to correct themselves.

And then again would rather cut off their own nose before proving they are wrong.
