1. It's the same as the reactionary left's martyr complex
The two extremes differ only in which parts of the Constitution they would shred.

5. Looks like they've decided on their talking point ...
... to distract away from what their followers are doing.

3. The right thrives on authority and fear. It motivates them. If they didn't have an enemy
they would invent one. That's what Pat Boone and Bachmann are doing.

4. When being a victim suits them, they play the victim.
it's the perfect excuse for all of their aggression

9. I have a theory....
I think it's easier for them to cling to their bigotry if they decide to believe those they are bigoted against are out to get them.

17. Precisely! What they don't realize is that this reaction even further marginalizes their
position and views. They are in a losing battle on all fronts, and their psychological inclinations and tendencies will result in the destruction of at least the most radical wing of their party, if not their entire party.

10. It's deliberately fostered by the right wing's propaganda machine.
When their base feels threatened they're more likely to follow blindly.

15. The machine needs more fuel.
If the base goes, who will feed the beast?

It's a dysfunctional symbiosis.

12. All totalitarian movements seem to have this.
It gets the followers good and angry, so that they can feel justified when they have their big orgy of killing and/or oppression. These guys bear close watching.

14. It's a perfect complement to the Napoleon complex they all have
Edited on Mon Apr-06-09 05:07 PM by librechik
What does Napoleon do when he's knocked off his throne?

Whine about how great things were when he was in charge and complain about how everybody is "out to get him"

18. Well, I'd say that in addition to being bad .........
at governing, they're also very bad at losing.

The only things they're good at, that I can think of right now, are stealing elections, changing the subject, and not telling the truth.

19. The GOP is bad at leadership too.
The propaganda they're pushing is dangerous.

They have to know this.

20. That's what I meant by "governing," and,
yes, I think they have absolutely no healthy connection inside their heads between their incendiary rhetoric and the potentially disastrous consequences.

They are bad at foresight, as well. They think no further than getting the brass ring. Once they have it, they lack any notion of what to do with it.

Hence, the shape they're in today.

(An aside - why is that asshole Frank Gaffney on "Hardball" AGAIN???????)
