Warning April Snow ..... threat level orange
Edited on Mon Apr-06-09 05:23 PM by Botany
Go ahead and cut your daffodils and hyacinths now
If they are still tight in bud don't worry but if they
are out in flower go ahead put 'em in vase and bring them
inside so you can enjoy them.

If you have lots cut 'em and take to neighbors or a senior citizen center
or a school.

1. Why should I? Temps won't be lower than 50s where I live
Not everyone lives in your world.

Besides, I don't have any daffodils or hyacinths. I don't even know what a hyacinth is.

4. Still Letting Them Stay Uncovered, We Have Been Above Freezing All Day
no snow on ground, just blowing all afternoon. Might put tubs over them if it starts piling up before bedtime.

6. 3-6 feet of WHAT?
Where in Ohio? We're supposed to get 1-3 inches in the Cleveland area tonight...back into the 50's in a couple of days.

8. Bot, surely you don't mean 3 to 6 feet.
3 to 6 INCHES, maybe...or more like 1 to 3.

I figure this is the last of the season, then maybe we can breathe a sigh of relief. We were getting away with murder there for a while.

Oh well, it's another good night to relax by making a pot of homemade soup. Only wish I still had some of the homemade bread to go with it. May have to bake some tonight.

3. We had an April snowstorm, 2 years ago
My daffs were blooming, and the snow didn't bother them, in the least. I had one of my prettiest gardens, that year. We got about 5 inches of snow, last night. The blooms are doing, just fine. But then, maybe Michigan flowers are hardier.

5. We're expecting our 1st 90 deg. day tomorrow and
the cactus are in bloom (nothing more beautiful than a cactus bloom!)
