GOP is now POG

I'm going to start referring to the GOP as the "POG". It stands for "Party of Gimmicks".
From Wikipedia:

"In marketing language, a gimmick is a unique or quirky special feature that makes something "stand out" from its contemporaries. However, the special feature is typically thought to be of little relevance or use. Thus, a gimmick is a special feature for the sake of having a special feature."

Sarah Palin was a gimmick (wise words spoken by a little old lady at a peace vigil in the early fall). Joe the so-called Plumber was and still is a gimmick . The Numbers Free Budget was a gimmick. Michael Steele may be a gimmick. Now we have the Tea Parties being organized all over the country - another gimmick IMO.

I've decided that they are now officially the POG.

5. They may like to think they're the Party of God.

They (the right wing 'Christians') seem to forget that Jesus associated with thieves, prostitutes, homeless beggars and the like. If they truly followed Christ they'd be asking why we don't already have universal healthcare instead of fighting it. They'd be asking why we treat our natural resources with such disrespect instead of denying global warming.

No, I'll second the vote for Party of Greed, that pretty much sums it up.
