1. I think that would fall under suicide more than gun fight. And notice
it's not in Florida OR Texas! What are the odds?

3. Funny how you don't hear about the use of tasers when they might have proved useful

9. Upholding law should come 1st, not my personal feelings toward those involved
About this incident tho, I'm just curious since you can find so many incidents of unwarranted, or even outright abusive use of tasers, if that would have worked to overcome the individual? I'm asking because I wasn't there, and I don't know.

10. Based on the situation, distance, enviroment it may not have been possible
It is not required for a LEO to risk death in order to prevent someone using lethal force to avoid that fate.

If the suspect was dangerous it is entirely possible the officer had already drawn his pistol.
Man exits the vehicle and without warning charges the officer.

Officer should put gun away, draw taser, and hope he is fast enough to incapacitate individual.

Not me. 2 shots center mass.

If you are ever involved in a high speed chase I STRONGLY recommend that when you exist the vehicle you do not charge an officer with a weapon.

Maybe you could put a sticker on your car door just in case you forget:
"Charging LEO with a lethal weapon may be hazardous to your health".

11. LOL...what on earth would make you think I'd be involved in a high speed chase?!
Those seems like a good way to have a bunch of bystanders/drivers injured or killed anyway ... hopefully in our lil neck of the woods I can avoid such things.

As to my question, it was intended in the objective sense, not out of personal preference.

13. Depends on how close you are with the Machete...
In any type of combat there's a time and place for any type of weapon. It all depends on the relative position of the combatants and whether or not there's a WMD involved. (Nukes or explosive devices pretty much level a field, no matter who or what is involved...)

That being said, the story is definatly sorry. Sounds as if this was a case of suicide by cop.
