1. haha
I don't know, it's kind of an awkward situation. I mean, I don't think many people walk up to Secret Service guys and shake their hands. It looked like Brown at least nodded at him.

Still, it had to kick ass to be that guy :D

5. Bottom line is that good manners never hurt
Brown pulled his hand away at the last minute. What a pig. The guy was a policeman not secret service.

I love the BBC caption below the video

Barack Obama and Gordon Brown walk into 10 Downing Street, where the US leader shakes the policeman's hand, but Mr Brown declines the offer.

7. my point is
He looked at the guy, nodded, seemed to smile, and was already turned away when the cop started to raise his hand. I have no horse in this race, so whatever, but it's not like he made a rude noise and flipped the dude off

And regardless of what the guy was, he's still security at an official event. It's just unusual for a world leader to do that. Not BAD, actually I think it's cool. Just unusual.

12. Ya know..if someone had to stand guard outside my door, I'd be baking him cookies
Cuz he very well may be the one keeping those wishing to do me harm AWAY from me and my family....and in doing so, putting HIMSELF in harms way.
Guess that thought has never entered the PM's head. What an asswipe.

14. Yep
and Christmas dinner. I don't think the world's leaders know how they are despised for their arrogance and sense of self importance.

15. Not bad manners
Come on now, Brown was already turning away when the policeman, caught in an unexpected situation, tentatively held his hand out. It would've been odd if Brown (if he even saw it) stopped, turned back, and shook his hand.

8. Me too!
Whether or not he goes down as one of the greatest presidents, he'll always have a place giving hope to all people who aren't lily white in this country and abroad.

That, to me, is success. No one will ever be able to take that away.

11. Thanks for that
I wanted to use my 1000th on another "bigotbash" of NoQuarter scum. I noticed it had got to 980, but not to 1000.

The semi Libertarian (still very different to your so called Libertarians) Paul Staines (Guido Fawkes) from orderorder.com ran a story on it on the day it happened. No one else picked it up. BBC International may have - the BBC News 24 programme you get is much better than the one we get. However I have to say the reverse is true for CNN.

Back to topic, Brown was an awful Chancellor, kept because of the Leadership deal and no PM survives when you get rid of one. He is an even worse PM. I am not saying Cameron will be any better, however he may have more fortuitous luck if President Obama does manage to turn the US economy around.

There is an old saying if America catches a cold, the UK gets a flue. Well you have flu now and we have pneumonia.

13. Ted Turner sells CNN, and they turn to shit.
I think both countries have cancer - cancer from years of greed and corruption from our corporations and politicians. It will take several years to fix this mess.

16. This is my take
I spent 45 minutes with our President when he came to Maine at a forum with just three other people in 2008. We bitched and moaned about everything that was wrong in our lives. I went off about health insurance and how I couldh't afford to pay for my son's health insurance while at the same time pay for his mris while he was playing football at a local college after a recent injury. Obama outlined his approach to health care and told me how his health care plan would beneift me. After he was assured that my son was okay, he asked.. "what position does he play. How do they look this year? " This guy is just such a class act.
