Freepers denigrate the troops in Iraq greeting President Obama as "REMF's"

Unbelievable! According to them the troops greeting Obama were "REMF's" Ya know, the Freepers LUV the troops....except the "overrepresented" ones who are MF's.

Look closely at the photograph. Do you see any lean, mean infantry soldiers? No. This puff piece by an appropriately named reporterette doesn't seem to note the absence of any real fighters. Back in the day, these people were called REMFs.

Thank you for explaining what I see as just a demographic issue (women, blacks, Hispanics over-represented in Obama photos)- funny how he seems to only show up with certain hand-picked groups of military. There was a study done fairly recently which disagreed with Rangel’s assertions that people of color are dying disproportionately there. NOT true in the all volunteer military, from what I can tell.

Well, the way these things usually go an email is blasted out to the distro list for the base saying something to the effect “Anyone who wants to see the president please come to the palace rotunda in the next 15 mins.”. It’s voluntary and yes, they would be REMFs.

They might be POGs (Persons Other than Grunts) but the REMFs are not in-country. That notion is as obsolete as the Korean War ... and massive troop movements and trenches and flanking maneuvers. It's all fabian and small unit tactics.

17. Most freepers have never served in the military.

All they know about the military is John Wayne movies and the few clips they see on Fox News. There is no such thing as rear echelon in a place like Iraq or Vietnam. There are no front lines - an IED or suicide bomber can kill anyone at any location.

When I was drafted during Vietnam, one of my Army friends wound up with a so-called "rear echelon" job over there. He never came home. A high school classmate who served two combat tours as a Marine volunteer came home in one piece. Freepers are so full of shit.
