Poll question: Fantasy Land
Minimum Standard of Living:

Cradle to grave health care

Education through college or trade school

Safe and decent housing

Minimum nutritional intake

We can debate how to pay for this another time. First, do we want it? Is it too socialistic for the USofA?

I left no "other" in the poll in hope that you might chime in with some discussion.

Remember, this poll is titled "Fantasy Land".

1. A flat 50% rate thought? Across all income strata?

2. I don't want this to be a flat tax discussion
I am no proponent of flat tax.

So, for this poll, let's say that's the average. The wealthy pay, I dunno, 90%. The poor pay, I dunno, 0%. The average in the middle of the range pays 50%.

3. I don't know anyone who wouldn't want it
Well, okay there are probably some conservatives who wouldn't want it. I'd love for all those things to be a reality but honestly if I were paying 50% in taxes I'd have to become someone participating in the program. So, yeah, it might be to socialistic for me.

6. Nonono ...... everyone benefits equally from the program.
Take health care. Everyone gets the same health care. You can opt up to get faster service or service from the specialist you want who is 1200 miles from you .... but even the poorest person could get a heart transplant just like the wealthiest could.

8. Of course they would
Minimum standards are just that ..... pretty basic.

I can say for sure that **I** would want more. And to get more, I'd have to work for it. That said, I would also feel very secure were I to take a risk and fail. I'd know I could keep trying.

11. What kind of work are you talking about?
People use that question to shut down discussions about socialism. Would the world really stop revolving if we all just took a day off? The better question is why we all agree to be slaves to the capitalist owners. Why in the world do we want to "work" now?

7. Looks like the minimum standards an individual might expect for busting their ass..........
during the course of their life. Sorry, the filthy stinking rich can't have it ALL; the rest of US need a slice of life too! Term Limits and Revolution will solve some of our current problems. The current DNC (Do Nothing Congress) congress , specially the leadership, is totally inept.

9. I think most people want this
You did say "We can debate how to pay for this another time" and proceeded to include a 50% tax in the poll questions which seems contradictory to me.

10. My issue isn't how I'm taxed, it's what I get in return.
IF I got what you proposed at a 50% tax, I'd support it...but most of us are taxed at more than 50% now.

Federal tax, state tax, local tax, sales tax, vehicle registration tax, school district tax, utility taxes to fund people who can's pay for their own utilities, payroll tax, hotel tax, "sin" tax (alcohol and tobacco), property tax...

...we're already taxed through the nose and have little to show for it. I oppose additional taxation....ALL additional taxation....unless we're getting something really big in return that would effectively "cancel out" some of the taxes we already pay.

12. You are getting a great big military and police state to boot.
Why we agree to it at all is astonishing.
