KY-Sen: AG Jack Conway to Run For Senate

Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway, one of the biggest Democratic rising stars in the country, is running for the U.S. Senate, for the seat currently occupied by human comedy routine Jim Bunning.

Conway, a native of Louisville, turns 40 years old this year. He is a graduate of Duke University and George Washington Law, and worked several years on the Hill and n the administration of former Kentucky Gov. Paul Patton. He narrowly lost a House bid in 2002 to then-Rep. Anne Northup, and was elected Attorney General in 2007.

He'll face another strong Democrat, Lt. Gov. Daniel Mongiardo, in the primary.

Polls show both Conway and Mongiardo defeating Bunning comfortably, and they show Conway ahead of the strongest potential replacement Republican, Trey "Grayskull" Grayson.

This remains one of the Democrats' best pickup opportunities, with either candidate.
