Somali Pirates 'Will Kill U.S. Hostage If Attacked'
Source: Daily Express

A Somali in contact with a pirate leader says the captors of a US sea captain are ready to kill him if attacked.

Four pirates are holding Captain Richard Phillips hostage aboard a drifting lifeboat, with US officials trying to negotiate his release.

The Somali, who last year helped negotiate a ransom to pirates who seized a Ukrainian ship carrying tanks, spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals.

He says he has spoken with a pirate leader on the ground in Somalia who is coordinating action on the lifeboat currently adrift in the Indian Ocean.

He says the plan is to get the hostage to shore to negotiate from a better position.

1. The lifeboat is surrounded by warships.
I guess they never heard of Navy Seals. Do they really think they are going to be allowed to go anywhere?

2. I think they are toast. They will be captured or killed,
the only question remaining is whether the Seals can save the Captain.

3. I wonder which of the vessels can hold out the longest?

The warships won't have to attack. Let the Captain go, or starve to death...their choice. If they kill the Captain, they seal their own fate. The US has the upper hand, and they won't relinquish it.

4. maybe they should tell them
look we wont put you in a horrible prison, we will put you in a civilized country prison.

And if you surrender right now, it's only say 3 years, but for each hour you wait, we are going to add another year to your sentence.

Something to try to entice them that they aren't going to die or go to some hellhole.
