The historian David McCulloch makes a case for saving the Brooklyn Bridge from developers.
McCulloch is the author of the brilliant biographies of Harry Truman and John Adams, and is one of the clearest historical thinkers in our country today.

I did not know that the site of the Brooklyn Bridge is exactly the spot where Washington retreated from his defeat in the Battle of Long Island, saving his Revolutionary War army to fight another day.

1. The Brooklyn Bridge is a historical landmark unto itself regardless of what happened there prior to
construction. It should be preserved on its own merit.

Likewise Yankee Stadium should not be allowed to be torn down but I guess its already too late to stop that.
