Saudi Arabia Executes Rapist in 22nd Beheading This Year
I know sometimes we don't give Fox News credit for breaking the big, important stories. I'm trying to make amends.

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — A Saudi man convicted of rape and robbery has been beheaded, becoming the 22nd prisoner to be executed by sword this year in the kingdom.

An Interior Ministry statement says the man committed the crimes after drinking alcohol.

Saudi Arabia follows a strict interpretation of Islam under which people convicted of murder, drug trafficking, rape and armed robbery can be executed — usually with a sword.

According to an Associated Press count, Saturday's execution was the 22nd beheading this year in Saudi Arabia. In 2008, 102 people were beheaded.

3. The rapist won't be raping again - that's for sure but
But they maybe could have just cut his penis off instead of his head but in either case he won't be rapping again which is all that matters.

4. I'm shocked. I had the impression that in hardline Muslim nations,
it's usually the rape *victim* who gets punished for daring to put herself in a situation that could make a rape possible--like walking out of the house to take out the trash, or some hussy, forward, ungodly similar thing.

I'd be very curious to see whether or not the victim was punished in some way as well.

6. This guy had to be suicidal.

Rape, robbery and drinking alcohol in Saudi Arabia? He had to have been asking for it or perhaps mentally deficient.

7. Even if you approve of such awful punishment, don't assume he was actually guilty.

8. Yup, you took the words right out off my keyboard. Remember this is an absolute monarchy.

The king makes ALL final decisions, including judicial ones.

It's just as likely this guy pissed someone off that he's actually guilty of a crime(s). In fact, rape is one of the hardest crimes to get "prosecuted" (sic) in KSA as it takes 4 witnesses to the event.

4 people.

Whenever I see an accusation of rape, I'm pretty skeptical. Especially since women in a country like KSA rarely go after a perp because the fall-out is so much worse for them (typically THEY get killed by either their families or "judicially" (sic) for "bringing it on themselves").

I'd bet this guy just ran afoul of the monarch or his family somewhere, somehow.
