Newt Gingrich Hates Puppies

So, this is silly I know, but noteworthy for it's cluelessness. I KNOW The G'rinch has a heart several sizes too small, but you'd think he'd twig to the fact that Americans love their dogs.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich weighed in Sunday on news that the first family has finally settled on a new puppy for daughters Malia and Sasha.

“I hope that the girls love the dog,” Gingrich said on ABC’s “This Week.” “I hope the family – and all the pressure they’re going to be in – finds it useful. And I think that this whole thing is fairly stupid.”

The six-month-old puppy is a Portuguese water dog that the Obamas have decided to name Bo. The dog is a gift to the first family from Massachusetts Sen. Ted Kennedy, a longtime Obama political ally who also owns several dogs of the breed.

“It’s great that they have a dog. It’s great that the kids are adjusting,” Gingrich said. “And where they got it from – who cares? It’s a nice gesture on Senator Kennedy’s part to give it to them but who cares?” Gingrich added.

Immediately preceding these comments, George Will was being a fucking prick about the Obama's not getting the dog from a shelter, not following Liberal values. My take is Gingrich was actually directing his comments at Will.

For a change, I agree with him. The dog is cute and all, but it's not important and shouldn't be the subject of airtime on serious news programs. It's no more important than stories like 'Zoo gets new panda, pandas are so cuuuuute'.

I don't understand why CNN keeps giving the Grinch free airtime. It's so obvious he's attempting to claw his way back to relevance before 2012 it makes me puke. (Of course a debate with him about family values would be entertaining as hell).
