Captain Phillips and Captain Sullenberger
So the thought occurs to me that these two men are very similar. Each remained calm and did their job. Captain Sully relied on all of his training and skill to land that plane and Captain Phillips saved his crew from the pirates before being taken hostage himself. He then tried to escape twice with the 2nd attempt being successful as the Navy Seals moved in.

Ordinary people, extraordinary circumstances, would that I react the same should the situation ever arise...

Well done by all and oh by-the-way, Jerry Bruckheimer and Michael Bay on line one...:bounce:

genuine hero, he put his life on the line for his crew. I know I will probably get flamed for this but Captain Sullenberger just did what he was trained to do, he didn't put his life on the line for anyone. I don't really consider anyone a hero unless they actually put their life on the line for anothers life. The word (hero) seems to have lost its value anymore, today if a dog barks and wakes someone up in a fire he is called a hero.

8. For an improved perspective, you might want to poll the
surviving passengers on Sullenberger's flight. They are probably a better judge of heroism than you or me.

10. I'm not saying he didn't do an outstanding job
that maybe no one else could have done. But he wasn't beamed up to the plane risking his own life to save the passengers. He was a very experienced pilot that performed his job well. When I worked as a boiler operator I kept the boilers in control and supplied with water when we had power failures. If I didn't know what I was doing they could have exploded and killed myself and others. My only goal was to save my own ass, I wasn't any hero.
