http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29493093/

I know the freeps hit things hard, but with 2,041,577 responses:

If you were grading Barack Obama on his performance as president, what would he get?

A - 28% B - 6.1% C - 5.6 D - 15% F - 45%

I say again... WTF??

1. I think it's been going for quite awhile. At this point it's busted and
useless.

2. Still there, tho... Where did they get
that many assholes? That's about a million F responses.

MSNBC needs to kill this one off.

18. Freek Republic used to boast about having"Perl scripts",
that would permit multiple voting in such "polls". That's what they meant when they'd say:"C'mon guys! Let's go over and FREEP that poll!". No, I'm NOT making this up! Somewhere on my HD is a copy of that posting.

22. Perl = Dinosaur
I remember those programs...before the days of cookies and IP tracking. Freeperville is one of the few that still uses a Perl system...the rest of the 21 century world uses php.

27. "Dinosaur" or not, would they still work on present polls?
Otherwise, my posting would have been non-relevant.

28. Most Polls Use IP Addresses and Cookies
Those old Perl Scripts were a simple loop that was like a macro...it'd refresh the page and vote, refresh and vote. A vast majority of today's sites use IP tracking and cookies to prevent this. It is conceivable to generate a program that somehow wipes out the cookie and generates a false IP, but I haven't seen/heard of them...and surely beyond the close-n'play mentality of Freepers.

30. That was probably only 4~5 years ago when I first spotted that on Freek Republic.
It was almost certainly an idle boast, but typical of that crowd. Thanks for the useful information! I'll stop making reference to those "Perl scripts" from here on.

3. It's a bullshit poll
Vote, clear your cookies and vote again, repeat as often as you like.

I don't give Obama an "A" (the DOJ issues and the wars and wiretappings still bother me); however, he doesn't rate an "F".

7. If the program is just cookies.
It would take only a few minutes to make a program that would automatically vote non stop. It would be easy to automate it, and one person could just leave a computer running a vote bot.

If it goes off of database of IPs already have voted, it is a little more problematic but still can be done.

8. It's cookies so a vote bot is likely
I just voted, cleared my cookies and voted again.

4. 2 things.
1st it might be one of those polls you can easily trick in to letting you vote multiple times. 2nd, it looks like A-C adds up to the F grade. It could easily be that those who dislike him aren't basing it on anything except partisanship. How likely is it for a freeper who dislikes him to give him a D instead of an F. I mean they aren't there to make an honest assessment. He could adopt every policy of G W Bush and they would still give him an F.

12. You do realize that it's an unscientific internet poll? A poll that can be
manipulated, and allows an individual to vote repeatedly? Have you seen any other non-internet poll that reflects these stats? :eyes:

And others, of course.

No worries, the absurd results prove the poll totally invalid.

21. The buck stops here.
Whether or not the poll's loaded, or being freeped, the is the abuse that our president signed up for. He knew that the chickens were coming home to roost, and that he would become a target for all our resentment.

I think he can take it.
