2. details are dangerous
You could be accused of hating Obama if you provide any details or background on any subject whatsoever.

The good guys are now running the government. Anyone killed, or not educated, is therefore by definition evil. Therefore, anyone objecting to any killing, abuse, or neglect of anyone is defending evil people, and tearing down the good guys, and must therefore be seen as evil themselves. Any and all attacks on evil people are justified.

16. what codswallop.
so what if someone accuses you of hating Obama? So what if someone accuses you of supporting fascism if you support Obama? Deal. And stop smooching on the strawmen you conjure up. It's pathetic.

3. I've offered this as something to consider. I would hope you might see the relevance
of the question to current events. If I mention in this post, all those scenarios I can imagine where we might be all better off had we put our money into HELPING people instead of hurting them, it would just become a flame war about those issues. I think it could be more constructive to just pose the question.

5. Because providing really good education is VERY EXPENSIVE
and largely unknown in the U.S. Not sure about elsewhere.

Just ran into article about Howard Gardner, a fine educator, whose approach is probably not known in most U.S. jurisdictions. How many are aware of 'multiple intelligence' theory?

As to 'studying war,' well, as we all know, its been done forever, right?

10. I find multiple intelligence theory fascinating but I hadn't seen this article.
This article would be worth its own thread, elleng.

12. Perhaps true in the US.
I don't believe this to be true worldwide -- though it should be.

14. As he should be.
When will elementary school teachers use his work as bases for their methods?

9. We all need some education.
Especially in math. I mean, how many people died today because of smoking, drunk driving, suicide, drug overdose...How many are facing homelessness, how many are living in conditions like actual 21st century slavery. These are big numbers, and one thing I can tell you is that a lot of the people who got it today didn't have it coming, and that's not something I can say for a very few people who have got a whole lot of attention. In my opinion the whole thing is a big distraction, whether you're treating it like some great victory or or some travesty. There are bigger things going on.
