1. I'd never heard of the company until now, even though I'm not that far from Portsmouth
I generally drink British and Irish teas anyway.

2. Wonder where the tea came from?
Odds are it wasn't made in the USA.

5. Yeah, probably cheap imported crap from China.
Full of pubic hair, feces, and rat poison. Drink up, freepers!

3. More - from the President of Portsmouth Tea:

President of the Portsmouth Tea Company, Marshall Malone, says, “It’s an honor to aid in the revival of liberty – fighting socialism rather than imperialism. The number of lives impacted is greater than our founding fathers ever imagined. We will choose our own stimulus package and offer $2 shipping until tax day.”

6. Well, not that I'm ready to give up PG Tips or Red Rose
but no matter how desperate I get for a cuppa, Portsmouth is now permanently off the menu.

I just looked at their website and find their stuff far too chichi for me.

16. Wonderful stuff
even if my friends from the UK would always put it into a Fortnum's box.

They're now selling it in one store here in NM. I need to stock up soon.

4. Never heard of it, but I oppose the 'baggers getting it for free.
They're supposed to be wimpily going to walmart and buying their own tea! That was part of the humor of the whole thing - how unwilling these morons are to do anything that might put them in jail for a night.

My grandma is an avid tea-drinker. She's also a conservative who would probably dump some cheap tea at one of those silly teabagging parties if there were one going on near here. I think she watches too much Fox. But I love her anyway.

She's a great lady, just has some strange political opinions. Once she said to me, "They're going to force socialized medicine on us whether we like it or not." I responded with, "I certainly hope so, but I wouldn't count on it." I didn't point out the fact that she already has socialized medicine in the form of medicare, augmented by a great, life-long, affordable insurance plan provided by one of those evil, liberal unions. (UMWA. My grandpa's benefits.)

And boy does she love her tea. So much so that we grandchildren like to give her fancy varieties of tea and pretty little teapots and cups as gifts on holidays. They're always a hit.

10. Good to know, thanks
I usually like Celestial Seasonings and Bigelow anyways. But I'm more into Yerba Mate than tea.

11. So tea is being donated now ...

They really don't understand the spirit of this sort of protest at all.

Freepers are silly.

12. Emailed the owner
One of my few splurges in life, is a fine cup of loose tea. I also love wandering through little boutiques, and supporting locally owned businesses (wherever we go). It's disheartening knowing that this is one place I will never visit - that I might have, if they hadn't supported this Fox News PR Stunt.

15. Not a problem... May I suggest full leaf teas from Boulder/s own
Edited on Tue Apr-14-09 04:56 PM by hlthe2b
the teaspot (http://theteaspot.com/home.php?cat=250)? My faves, Meditative Mind (=Chinese white tea, rosebuds and jasmine pearls), VIntage Oolong, and Mango Tango (black with mango). The last two are equally (especially) good iced.

No, no financial interests in the company...Just promoting a terrific company from the "Socialist Republic of BOulder" (LOL)
