More bad news for Hannity and the Tea baggers in Atlanta
The protest that coincide with Hannity's television show that he is producing live from the capital building in downtown Atlanta will be going on and finishing at the exact same time that more than 40,000 people will be heading to watch the Atlanta Braves and Florida Marlins play at Turner Field, which is less than 5 miles from the capital. The GA DOT has already said that traffic could be a nightmare and that many people traveling to the anti-tax rally at the capital may not have anywhere to park and may not even be able to get there at all.

Also as anyone that is familiar with Atlanta knows very well that traffic bottlenecks on the downtown connector on nights that the Braves are playing. In fact it is not unusual to wait over two hours in traffic to just get to Fulton Street to make it to the stadium. On top of all that 10th and 14th street exits are still closed as they have been for the last year and half forcing commuters to get off at 17th street and cross over to spring street to make it to the capital. Except there is only one problem with this solution. Spring street is the main road that people who work in Midtown, near the Arts Center, Corporate Towers, AT&T, Coca Cola HQ building, and GA TECH campus travel to get home. Some public officials are already saying that this could be one of the worst traffic days ever in Atlanta.

Poor Hannity. What protesters he may have will be stuck in more than 2 hours traffic delays trying to get to his stupid anti-tax rally.

1. No problem for Hannity and FOX.
They'll just take pictures of the baseball crowd and claim they're protesters.

26. actually, most stories about traffic during the Olympics were positive.
It was actually a time when some planning and coordination worked.

4. Hannity will
have a cameraman go over to Turner Field, take about 10 seconds of video of the people walking into the stadium, then show it on his show and claim that there were tens of thousands at his rally.

Hannity never lets a good pr stunt go awry.

5. And the Braves home game schedule was announced only last night?
And the Atlanta tea baggers were unaware of the potential traffic nightmare?

Some grass roots organization there -- youbetcha.

I'll say it again: They bring the stupid.

31. Yeah, Either Last Night Or Last Year
Good point. They planned this protest at a place where 100 times the number of people would be part of the traffic.

What geniuses.

Thinking farther ahead than tonight's corned beef and beer is too much for wingnuts.

Guns ride free on MARTA starting July 1
June 20, 2008 at 3:35 pm by Thomas Wheatley in News

Polish your Glocks, licensed firearm carriers. On July 1, your lifelong dream to legally carry a pistol on the city's public-transit system will be realized. In uneasy anticipation of the event, MARTA's trying to get the word out.

So we're looking at, what, several dozen teabaggers riding the trains armed to the teeth. :scared:

14. About five miles, maybe less
If there was no traffic on the roads you could drive from the capital to the stadium and vice versa in about five minutes or less. The problem is that Turner Field charges a good chunk of change to park in their lots. So many people park in free or much less expensive public lots near and around the Capital building and then take MARTA to the stadium. I am telling you this is going to be a mess.

16. At most, it's maybe a mile away.
It's literally just across a bridge.

It's going to be a nightmare for all those idiots who don't know their way around the city and are only coming here because their Faux overlords told them to.

Something tells me its going to suck trying to leave from work today! I think I'll aim for any idiot I see with a sign on my way out of town.

17. If you don't know already-the reason Hannity is in Atlanta
is that he was a house painter whose business failed because he spent so much time calling into talk radio to defend Ollie North. A producer liked what he heard and gave him a timeslot (weekend I think) he got hired from there. Went to San Diego got fired for anti-gay remarks. Ended up somewhere and Roger Ailes hired him out of the blue to be on TV.
