I think that line comes from the final episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It was what Buffy the heroin says they will do to the enemy, which is said to be evil. Is he saying America is the enemy or evil? Must be coincidence.

I don't believe correlation is causation, but I wonder if some of those people spend time interpreting Buffy episodes?

A show originally created by FOX TV. Which is supporting the protests.
