Dear Texas Gov. Rick Perry: Up your ass. Go ahead, secede, but STFU.
AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas Gov. Rick Perry fired up an anti-tax "tea party" Wednesday with his stance against the federal government and for states' rights as some in his U.S. flag-waving audience shouted, "Secede!"

An animated Perry told the crowd at Austin City Hall -- one of three tea parties he was attending across the state -- that officials in Washington have abandoned the country's founding principles of limited government. He said the federal government is strangling Americans with taxation, spending and debt.

Perry repeated his running theme that Texas' economy is in relatively good shape compared with other states and with the "federal budget mess." Many in the crowd held signs deriding President Barack Obama and the $786 billion federal economic stimulus package.

Perry called his supporters patriots. Later, answering news reporters' questions, Perry suggested Texans might at some point get so fed up they would want to secede from the union, though he said he sees no reason why Texas should do that.

1. If there is no reason to do it, why bring it up?
What a fucking asshole.

5. If only! Seriously, we should give them the choice and see
how many Texans are willing to become their own country and forfeit all civil rights, travel rights, business rights, disaster aid and military protection granted to US citizens. Perhaps they could even give Dubya is wish and make him Dictator of the once grand state, but now puny country of Texas.

8. The Bushes would be the first to go...
Rick Perry doesn't like the Bushes so they would probably be exiled along with their two favorite lapdogs, Kay Bailout Hutchison and John Cornyn. Which at least would take care of the problem of Kay Bailout Hutchison and John Cornyn for everyone else since they wouldn't have a state to represent. Always look for the silver lining.

Chuck Norris no doubt is already forming a militia to defend the new nation of Texas. We of course will get to keep him. Lucky us.

6. What I find quite ironic
Is that so long as the Neocons are spending trillions on things like a needless and unjustified war, the wingnuts are happy. But if the money is being spent here at home to actually help people, do constructive things, and pull ourselves out of the complete economic mess that the Repugnants created, they go batshit crazy and take to the streets. I agree with Krugman. Their behavior has reached the point of being so completely pathetic it's downright embarrassing to live in the same country as so many mouth-breathing morans.

7. Now if I remember correctly
didn't Texas do that secession thing a few years back? How'd that work out back in the 1860's? Oh yeah...it didn't

9. If they secede
Can we keep Austin? It's the only decent part of Texas.

10. Take ALASKA with you, Please?
I just got back from 10 days in Texas - I was born in San Antonio, but hardly recognize the city anymore. The right wing talk radio in southern TX is intense, Christian-centric, White, clearly anti-Obama, and their love of guns sends a chill up my spine. There are many simple folk in Texas of many different races and cultures; unfortunately all the rich white republican assholes have always run the show down there.

Yes; by all means, secede. Perhaps Alaska could go with you?

11. Say what...you don't like the tax system...you receive more than you pay...

<http://taxprof.typepad.com/taxprof_blog/2004/09/red_states_feed.html> Red states pay far less than they receive...I am still looking for TX's exact figure....go ahead and secede...we have greater priorities for our money.

By the way - Blue states subsidies red states...check out the link.

12. WHY am I having images of "Palin/Perry '12"
And, BTW, he pulled a chimp and laid an extra layer or two onto his Texas accent in that video clip.

I'm telling ya, these two freaks are gonna hook up for 2012. :scared:
