I'm a Democrat. Probably, not enough. We help people who need it. No complaints. These Teabaggers? I'm embarrassed for them. Truly. What a selfish act.

3. I'm getting a refund but I hear ya...
I'm only getting a refund because of the huge quarterlies I've been sending in but the point is the same. I drive on the roads, I hope that firemen will show up if I ever have a fire and I also want our country to get back to being a place where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.

7. Funding for your Fire Department is largely from local property taxes.

4. I'm not proud of it.

We are still in Iraq and Afghanistan when people back home need the money much more. The federal gov'ts spending priorities are way screwed up. We need much more social spending, along with massive tax increases to the wealthy. Cuts to defense spending as well.

The Taliban needs to be wiped off the face of the earth. No questions asked. Executed a couple two days ago for eloping. If one $ helps kill one of these motherfuckers, than I'm a happy man.

shall indeed die by it."

I think Gandhi said, "An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind."

The USA in Afghanistan will go the same way as the British and Soviets, mark my words.

6. We paid $1641 on Monday
Meh, I'm a socialist so I don't really have a problem with it. The cost of living, I suppose. If only it went to better social programs like education and health care, instead of financial bailout and war, I'd be happier.

but that's because I don't make a lot of money and have one dependent. In overall, I also paid my taxes througout the year as well and i have never complained either.

10. I wrote two checks to the IRS yesterday - one for 2008 and the first installment for 2009
I consider it a citizen's obligation, like voting and serving on juries. We have to support our government if we want one to maintain services and to help those who need it more.

17. We need to reframe this.
Instead of "tax day", we should call it "American Investment Day". It is an investment in the country, after all, and a very good one at that, IMO.

Gifts to the United States Government

How do I make a contribution to the U.S. government?

Citizens who wish to make a general donation to the U.S. government may send contributions to a specific account called "Gifts to the United States." This account was established in 1843 to accept gifts, such as bequests, from individuals wishing to express their patriotism to the United States. Money deposited into this account is for general use by the federal government and can be available for budget needs. These contributions are considered an unconditional gift to the government. Financial gifts can be made by check or money order payable to the United States Treasury and mailed to the address below.

Gifts to the United States
U.S. Department of the Treasury
Credit Accounting Branch
3700 East-West Highway, Room 622D
