Man Rams Airport Gate, Fence (Fort Smith, AR)
A Hackett man drove his vehicle through a gated fence early Wednesday at TAC-Air in an attempt to board an airplane because he needed to get to Israel, according to Fort Smith police.

William Ray Guthrie, 28, drove through the gated fence at about 6:45 a.m., destroying 20 feet of fence before traveling about 100 yards toward an airplane, according to Sgt. Levi Risley of the Fort Smith Police Department.

<snip>

When Guthrie noticed the employee, he said he needed a plane to take him to Israel and then asked the man if he would fly him there.

Guthrie said he needed to get away from President Barack Obama because he was “the anti-Christ,” the employee reported to police. He also said Guthrie waved a Bible, quoted several passages of scripture and kept making religious references, according to a police report.

The article goes on to say that the plane was missing propellers and was not operational. They are trying to get help for the man at a mental health facility.

2. This is what the right-wing does to people with their demonization.
Obviously this man had mental health issues independent of politics, but it appears that the right-wing hate talk drove him over the edge.

5. I know a guy who took the wrong road at the airport.
He was a tow-truck driver, professionally, and used the service road often during his work. He thought of it as a shortcut and used it once in his private vehicle. He got a few yards before surrounded by security, with guns drawn.

I'm sure there was never any chance of this man getting anywhere, even with a working plane.

6. I've been to that FBO. They don't even offer passenger ticketing
They are an organization that services private and corporate aircraft at FSM.

It just goes to show you there's no nut like a religious nut.

I fear that this is going to get much worse. And the right-wing is able to get away with it.

12. That's interesting - tell me more
When I was in high school, I used to fiddle around with my Granddads HAM radio equipment and try to tune worldwide stations (under his watchful eye). Right after the Oklahoma City bombing, I was tuning around and found a net that sounded interesting - they were talking politics. So without paying attention, I decided to stick on that channel and get in the queue for discussion. After about 10 minutes of listening, I was appalled at what I was hearing. All kinds of idiocy directed at the Clinton Administration along with threats and vile behavior. To this day, I remember how chilling it was sitting there listening to those psychos.

So I assume its gotten worse?

13. in-freaking-sane
I haven't been on in a week, but the usual suspects are WWCR (www.wwcr.com) and WWRB www.wwrb.org . The worst out there right now is Pastor Peter J. Peters and his Scriptures for America show. It is point blank white supremacist broadcasting. He's constantly spewing nonsense that President Obama is the Antichrist, 24/7/365. With 4 100Kw transmitters at his disposal, he gets around the world easily.

Same thing with Brother R.G. Stair out of South Carolina. If you want i can make up a list of frequencies for you.

if there is one good thing to come out of all of this, the pirate radio activity on the shortwave dial has exploded. A lot of it is quite entertaining to listen to (not to mention insanely hysterical!)and they can be found at dusk on 6.925, 6.950, 6.955, 6.995. the funniest one i heard so far is Commander Bunny Radio when they hacked up a bunch of Focus on the Family audio. They had edited James Dobson to the point that he was pro-choice and in love with another man. a freaking riot!

14. Wow...I had no idea it was this pervasive
I probably shouldn't be surprised, because we so how crazy and nutjob rantings get put into the mainstream on the internet. But wow, after listening to a couple minutes of that Peters guy, I don't think I can stomach looking around for this type of idiocy.

On the other hand, I think I would love to hear those pirate stations.

15. well i think
WRBB only charges like $250 per hour, probably even cheaper if you buy in bulk. So just about anyone with a crackpot theory can get out there all in the name of christianity. Some of it was quite funny to listen to the day after the elections, but it been steadly getting worse.

WBCQ, the planet, out of Monticello, Maine is a great station to listen to. It's run by an ex-pirate by the name of Alan Weiner. he's always playing great music and they can be found on 7.415 and some frequency around 5.5 Mhz
