President Obama in Mexico and a full indictment of US Media
So we got to watch a little history yesterday

Not only did we see Marine One (or one of the other three they brought since security was almost as high as a visit to Baghdad... no, not my words, the Mexican Press, but I fully agree)... but we got to watch a half hour interview with the National Security Council spokesman in ahem Spanish on CNN Spanish.

I learned far more about the relationship on that interview than any of the news models in the states, no matter what channel. Hell, Blitzer's Situation Room went from the presser with both Presidents to ... breaking blond or something to that effect. I guess both men speaking high level English or Spanish was getting on his nerves, and for god sakes we'd not want Muricans to learn about this critical Foreign Policy initiative, where we might even see American blood spilled.

Oh and as to the extreme security... the wife was supposed to come... there were no public events, and it was unprecedented. For all of those who believe that the cartels are no threat... chew on that.

Nadin

1. I always look for your updates on this subject, Nadin, as you spend time in
Mexico as well as the US and really have your finger on the pulse. On an anecdotal level I watch increasingly more wealthy Mexican citizens buy "vacation" homes in our Houston suburbs. The current issues really can't be understated.

2. Well there were some details on the security that the Mexican presss
covered that both I, and by brother in law, who both have a clue about VIP security went... HOLLY SHIT!

Suffice it to say the cartels have the intent and the means... and I can only guess at the intelligence chatter that both the Mexican Intelligence Service and the US Intelligence got.

Of course, my stupid brother said, I am going to Polanco this morning... right smack dab in the sterile zone... have fun with the federal police!

5. K&R...We underestimate the power of these drug cartels at our own peril.
I made a comment some time back about the cartels being the most immediate threat we face and got ridiculed for it.

They are not afraid of governments.

8. Very true - I wonder if Perry even thought of the drug cartels
when he was threatening to seceed. Texas would be easy pickings for them.
