Is Obama Protecting Fellow Ds By Letting The Torture Issue Slip?
Don't get me wrong, I wish he'd go after prosecuting everybody who was involved.

Q: is it unreasonable to assume that more than a few big fish Ds were appraised of what bushco was up to with torture, and that Obama is being circumspect because he doesn't want to open up a bi-partisan can of grief?

Just asking.

2. My gut feeling is that Obama released the memos and...

...is waiting for the political will to develop (starting with Keith last night) and have it discussed all over the place and he can say, I've got no choice now - I was gonna look forward but the demand is there.

If he came out and said he was going to prosecute right away he would have gotten the teabaggers attention and they would be screaming about that instead of a tax increase they never got.

11. I agree with you that he and his people have to do traffic control.
There are too many planes circling the airport right now. I am very invested in this issue but have to recognize how much these people are trying to manage right now.

15. Were the memos released the only memos?
Edited on Fri Apr-17-09 05:19 PM by originalpckelly
You assume that these memos that pertained to one or two people were the only memos. I doubt it.

Obama's guys are probably keeping the rest of them secret. After all, we could never know as long as we don't have full access to the information in government. Secrecy does that, it gives the people who control secrecy all the power.

3. It has been reported and certainly seems reasonable that all Democratic
Leadership and those who are members on Intelligence and some
Defense Committees were very much aware early on.

Your point sounds reasonable.

4. He is not 'allowing" it. He is active is 'letting" it slip. Your
question is reasonable. but if they were involved then let the chips fall where they may.

6. Sorry, seems like it translates into allowing. my
point is that the WH/obama is active in this issue. Not passing as in letting it happen. No offense.

7. Agreed
If he doesn't allow prosecutors to go where the evidence takes them, he's every bbit as guilty as the Bush Adminstration.

9. The torture issue is front and center.
That's what happened when the President released such without blacking out any of the the content except for the names.

12. That's exactly what I thought. Wait and see if we find out who in Congress was briefed
and said or did nothing to stop it.

14. They ALL deserve trial and punishment. No matter which party or how big/little they may be.
There's a whole swamp full of monsters in congress, the executive, and the CIA that should be brought to book.

16. Since everyone on the planet knew,
I'd say more than a handful in congress knew about it. Your point?
