I have a theory as to torture, Bush, and Obama, so hear me out.
Remember how many times in the past Obama gave his detractors enough rope to hang themselves?

Well with the torture memos, Obama is doing the same thing.
The Bush goons and their cheerleaders are in the process of destroying themselves, including Cheney with his wild claims about "Obama is making the US less safe."

These people are going to be falling over each other, accusing each other of torture.

Meanwhile, Obama sits back and works on whats more important now, especially the economy.

This saves the Obama people a lot of wear and tear, letting the former Bush people rip each other apart.

1. I agree - I think Obama is waiting for the political will to prosecute...
...and the more that is known the more the Justice Department will have no choice.

Let the groundswell begin.

Once they have a job.

6. Congressional hearings are a great thing to watch between interviews.

8. Agreed. Also a strain of end justifies means; people don't know that torture doesn't get good intel.

2. Rationalization is an expression of hopefulness which is irrational
There is no evidence that Obama is doing anything other than Moving-On

I would love to think that it is otherwise, but until there is evidence of it, we can only suggest rationalizations which keep our irrational hope alive.

3. I really hope he's playing Rope-A-Dope with Dick
I'd like to see Dickie hang.

I'm not too happy, but I'm giving him a little while to do his thing. Say what you will, Obama's a pro.

I'll defer to him for the time being

5. I think we're only seeing the very tippity tip of the iceberg
and behind the scenes there is some serious chicago-style asskicking and headlocking going on.

He'll have to work hard to redeem himself with me. :(

Edited to add: Did he promise he'd prosecute torturers?

10. I also believe this is the case...
By releasing the memos it keeps the torture issue out there. Cheney and Rove can't help themselves....their egos and their mouths won't let them.
