A week when Texas Republican State Rep. Betty Brown (what is it with Texas?) told a hearing on voter registration that if Asians wanted to avoid problems at the polls they needed to change their names to something that's "easier for us to deal with."

A week when Illinois Republican Congressman Mark Kirk said he thought the people of Illinois "are ready to shoot" anyone who's going to raise taxes.

1. That's the guy I read about recently

who so casually mentioned shooting and raising taxes in the same sentence. These hatemongers need to be held accountable for inciting violence..what, he thinks the top 1/or 2 % are going to go out and ruin their lives because their taxes are going back to Clinton levels?

2. Kirk has struck me as being reasonably level-headed. I can't remember another...

...time where he's said something that incendiary so I'm inclined to give him a pass on this one. I think it's just hyperbole and an unfortunate choice of words.
(I'm not in his district but I'm close by enough that he gets mentioned in the local papers regularly.)
