Here's the problem with the torture issue....
if what the CIA or Blackwater or CACI or DynCorp or any other military private contractor did was honorable in defending the nation, there wouldn't be a need to cover this shit up in not investigating or sweeping everything that happened in the past under the rug and letting bygones be bygones.

The fact that THEY ARE DOING THIS, is in itself an admission of illegality - no matter what some scumbag Bush crony lawyer dreamed up for an excuse for committing acts of torture.

Remember, we never got to hear or see the tape of "the good guys" sodomizing a teenager (as per Sy Hersch)......

1. I wonder how all the people who had no reason whatsoever to
be in Abu Ghraib, Gitmo or the black sites feel about these "rulings".

6. I'd feel like the golden rule was applied. He who has the gold
makes the rules.

2. What's sad is that this behavior is really only news to Americans.
In Latin America for example where CIA, DEA and others have been committing these crimes for many years, nothing about this is surprising. Not the crimes and not the attempt to cover up.

3. You're correct...-
This kind of "news" is shocking to people who live in a bubble that normally do not get exposed to truth...

5. People of good will have the default "trust our government", too.
There's that. We want to believe the best of people until they prove us wrong.

Unfortunately, the CIA has proved what it does over and over and over again.
