Women at war face sexual violence
Women at war face sexual violence

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/8005198.stm

In her new book, The Lonely Soldier: The Private War of Women Serving in Iraq, Helen Benedict examines the experience of female soldiers serving in the US military in Iraq and elsewhere.

Here, in an article adapted from her book, she outlines the threat of sexual violence that women face from their fellow soldiers while on the frontline, and provides testimony from three of the women she interviewed for her book.

1. What some male soldier will do to fellow female soldiers
I'm not sure I even want to imagine what they do to the civilian females.

2. I am not surprised.
The military needs to make these crimes very serious and with very severe punishments. But then so does society. We have a long way to go.

also didnt find a problem in google with female soldiers in the israeli army being raped either. their is plenty on the american women soldiers. i say this cause another thread on this subject, poster stated rape was hard wired in, shit happens and other blaze or stupid comments and i would like a comparison to other militaries that require females to be soldiers.

And weeding out thug behavior.
I've been in and around the military for the past 30 years; if the command demands respect up and down the chain and encourages the members to respect each other and their jobs, shit like this doesn't happen except in very rare circumstances.
