Michael Smerkonish...The Real Future Of The Republicans?
For those not familiar with him...he's the bald-headed guy who hosts a morning talk show in Philly and is a regular on many teevee food fights. During the booosh era he was a strong appologist for the Iraq invasion and the "WOT" but then began to fall off the wagon during the second term. He parted ways with many of his more venonmous hate radio spewers and came out in support of President Obama last year.

He was just on with Whorie Kurtz, hawking a new book and syndicated radio show and had some very interesting insights into how the cable teevee game is played as well as taking some shots at those on the right who have turned AM radio into a cesspool. He's definitely not a Democrat but he does represent an interesting perspective...and possibly a voice for moderates and independents...drowning out the verbosity that has dominated the political "discourse" for the past 20 years.

With the ongoing self implosion of the rushpublicans along with brewing disenchantment with the Obama administration...could that manifest itself into some real third wave...or did last week's teabagging symbolize the real future?

1. hard to tell
He's pro-choice, so the social conservative wing of the party probably dismisses him already for that alone.

I did think the part where he said that David Gregory sent him a note saying that he wished that he had appeared on HIS show (Race for the White House at the time) to announce his support for Obama instead of Hardball, and never invited him back after that, was kinda funny.
