Georgia Congressman "Dr. No" Is Chief Obama Antagonist...and Hypocrite
It was President Barack Obama’s first address to Congress. While others in the hallowed House chamber applauded and nodded, Rep. Tom Price shook his head and rolled his eyes.

Obama had barely finished speaking when Price, a Republican from Roswell, started slamming the new president — in a YouTube video, in news releases and in e-mails to colleagues — this time for something “In the few short weeks since the president entered office, his administration has chosen to employ scare tactics and alarmist rhetoric to advance an agenda,” Price said in his video response to Obama’s February address to Congress. “Rather than play on people’s fears, we must tap into that American spirit of optimism and perseverance.”

Five years after leaving the Georgia Senate for Congress, Price, 54, is positioning himself as something of a new standard-bearer for a Republican Party trying to resurrect itself in Washington.
that his own party was often accused of back when former President George W. Bush and Republicans controlled Washington.

Some say Price’s rhetoric is anything but positive and optimistic. In some corners of the Capitol, the third-generation doctor is known simply as “Dr. No.”

Instead of trying to fix the nation’s problems, critics say, his sole aim is to try to tear down the president and other Democrats and raise his own standing in the Republican Party.

“He just waves the ideological flag,” said Rep. Barney Frank, the Democratic stalwart who often verbally spars with Price at the House.

Frank calls Price unconstructive and says his political posturing is “so extreme” that it gets in the way of getting things done.

Fellow Georgia Rep. Hank Johnson, a DeKalb Democrat, said he has a good relationship with Price — despite the fact that the two agree on virtually nothing.

“But I really bemoan the fact that some members of Congress … still play politics at this critical moment in time,” Johnson said.
