6. It's a retro affectation.
Some people type in Courier in order to make their work look as if done on a typewriter, which is silly in a way -- kind of proclaiming to the world, "Look, I'm a luddite." The next obvious step is to use a font that looks like handwriting (not their own, of course), so readers can think the writer has come from a time even before typewriters.

7. You can choose whatever fixed-pitch font that floats your boat in your browser's preferences.

I prefer the Lucida font family ... and don't have to deal
with Courier. Thus, I get to view this in "Lucida Sans
Typewriter" font.

9. Nice tip - but ugh, Lucida Sans Typewriter looks awful on my screen
like a typewriter with a ribbon that's nearly used up, so that some strokes are thin, and some thick. So I'm trying out a few of the other possibilities.

10. Try Lucida Console instead
Also, it could be your screen resolution. If it isn't well matched to the capabilities of your monitor, monospaced fonts will look even more crap.

11. Mmm, I had already found Lucida Console looks better, at that size
It's that effect (whether with Lucida San Typewriter, or another font, I don't know) that makes the occasional blog almost unreadable for me - I guess they find it looks good on their monitor, and specify a font and size rather than letting people's browser references take care of it.

16. There's a man who leads a life of danger...
To everyone he meets,
he stays a stranger.
With every move he makes,
another chance he takes.
Odds are he won't make it 'til tomorrow.

:)

17. Neat! I'd forgotten most of the song:
(P.F. Sloan / S. Barri)

There's a man who leads a life of danger
To everyone he meets he stays a stranger
With every move he makes another chance he takes
Odds are he won't live to see tomorrow

Secret agent man, secret agent man
They've given you a number and taken away your name

Beware of pretty faces that you find
A pretty face can hide an evil mind
Ah, be careful what you say
Or you'll give yourself away
Odds are you won't live to see tomorrow

Secret agent man, secret agent man
They've given you a number and taken away your name

Secret agent man, secret agent man
They've given you a number and taken away your name

Swingin' on the Riviera one day
And then layin' in the Bombay alley next day
Oh no, you let the wrong word slip
While kissing persuasive lips
The odds are you won't live to see tomorrow

Secret agent man, secret agent man
They've given you a number and taken away your name

Secret agent man
