On global warming and personal observations
I grew up in Mexico City... as some of you may know

This time of year was known as the dry time, but temperatures rarely went above 22-23 centigrade, in the upper seventies

Hell, shorts were not something women and men wore.

Over the last two years been going for passover... not only are shorts required... but the temperature is close to the upper 20s even days in the lower 30s, aka upper eighties to nineties

Not only that, but water shortage is so bad that they may have to do some serious water rationing... by the by, the collapse of Mayan cities came to mind... and Mexico City may see an ecological collapse as well.

Suffice to say that our lovely planet warming deniers would do well to go to the country south of the border, and talk to locals

They all mention what they have seen... the heat, the dryness, the lack of rain, and those lucky to go to the coasts to vacation, much warmer waters.

By the by, all this is predicted by the science.

Oh and a little late to the party, they have started a federal reduce, reuse, recycle and shortly all plastic bags will no longer be available in supermarkets

1. we aren't going to do ANYTHING meaningful about it until it's too late.
and then they'll have to resort to things like purposely polluting the upper atmosphere or some other such insane ploy that will just as likely backfire(or moreso) than succeed. it's actually going to be exciting to watch(at least to those of us who live well-enough inland and above sea-level, and close to an ample supply of fresh water.
i'm just EXCEPTIONALLY glad that we chose not to have kids, or i might have to worry about the kind of world would be left for them and theirs.

2. We didn't choose, the navy was involved
but I agree with you

I am to a point glad that we don't have kids, beyond our three parrots...

As to fresh water, not so fast... one of the problems is that we do rely on high mountain snow in a good percentage of the US... for drinking water... that too is going down, exponentially

As to polluting the high atmosphere, there are a couple other things they can do.... but they require quite a bit of cost, but that's neither here or there

3. we don't rely too much on high mountain snow for water in our neck of the woods.
we've got the great lakes- which should provide plenty of water for my lifetime.

4. Ah but that relies on other sources
it is scary... though it should be enough for your lifetime

but it's obvious to me that nothing of any consequence is going to be done until it's much too late. our species is too weak to make the necessary sacrifices voluntarily.

7. IMO, corporatism/capitalism has too much control over government . ..
the public is beginning to understand -- and many have understood for decades.

8. I am a little more hopeful, that the species will survive
but I do expect an ecological collapse

6. Here in NJ we're at least 25 degrees over normal . . .
anyway you look at it ---

We're very close to very serious problems --- catastrophic weather --

pollution of air, food, water, soil - death of animal life!

Wasn't capitalism great --- !!!

9. I don't blame capitalism, mostly because what most people call
capitalism is a meme, that has nothing to do with the small time competition by small time producers envisioned by Adam Smith

And yes, that is a pet peeve of mine

Adam Smith hated monopolies and ahem warned against them in the Wealth of Nations... as actual enemies of real economic development

Most folks have never, ever read the Wealth... let alone corporatists around the world

In fact, our form of corporatism is very close to the Italian model envisioned by el duce

So isn't corporatism great?

No, it is not.

10. Capitalism is a ridiculous "King-of-the-Hill" sytem . . .
intended to move the wealth and resources of a nation from the many to the few -
and it has succeeded mightily.

Un-regulated capitalism is merely organized crime.

Capitalism was invented by the Vatican to replace Feudalism when that became insufficient
to run their Papal States.

It's been with us only a few hundred years in its present form ---

We've also usurped laws on corporations which were raised and folded based on need.

Whether you call it capitalism or corporate take over of government ---

capitalism has to go!!

And where are the Democrats even talking about RE-REGULATION . . . ?????

11. You can also look to "Manifest Destiny" and "Man's Dominion Over Nature" . . .
organized patriarchal religions license to elites to exploit nature, natural resources,
animal-life and even other human beings according to various myths of inferiority.

This is patriarchy's war on nature . . . organized patriarchal religion being the
underpinning for patriarchy.
