I had hope for change but
it's fading with every tortured soul getting flushed down the hole.

2. Wassamatter?
You are thinking that Barack Obama is running this country all by himself.
He ain't no messiah, you know!

Ever heard of congress?
Why don't you make some noise over there.
Perhaps they can do a little work,
while Obama saves the economy and shit.
After all, you are the one you have been waiting for,
or so you should be!

Congressman Jerrold Nadler has just publicly asked that the Attorney General appoint a special prosecutor. Please THANK HIM, and please ask him and ask your congress member to jointly send to Eric Holder the letter that Nadler and 55 other congress members sent to Michael Mukasey requesting a special prosecutor last summer, or an updated version thereof.

Here is a release from Nadler's office:

Nadler Applauds Obama Administration's Transparency on Torture
Memos Renews Call for Special Prosecutor and Congressional Investigation

Congressman Jerrold Nadler (NY-08), Chair of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, praised President Obama and the Department of Justice for releasing four legal memos on the torture of detainees that had previously been concealed by the Bush administration. Rep. Nadler, however, called on the Obama administration to go further and appoint a special prosecutor to investigate and, if necessary, prosecute those responsible for authorizing the torture. He also said that a Congressional investigation is absolutely warranted. Rep Nadler released the following statement:

(see link):http://www.democrats.com/node/19420
updated letter: http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/node/41743

Send Nadler your support:

Direct petitions to AG Holder we can sign: http://action.firedoglake.com/page/s/Prosecutor

3. I see a sea change... not sure what you are seeing
Edited on Mon Apr-20-09 03:54 AM by Syrinx
I don't agree with everything President Obama has done. But I never expected that I would. I've never agreed with anyone, much less a politician, one-hundred percent of the time.

But Obama is such a breath of fresh air, following the stench of the Bush administration, that I think we ought to cut him a little slack.

I'm not saying you shouldn't speak up when you disagree with him. But, come on, Obama is infinitely better than Bush.

5. A breath of fresh air, sure.
Look at it this way - That breath of fresh air isn't going to get the shit out of the stable. So long as that shit stays piled up, the stench is always going to be there, and will only get worse. It's the responsibility of whoever is holding the rake and shovel to get rid of all that shit. If they don't, then they're not doing their job and need to look up their unemployment benefits posthaste.

Just because the last administration was such a bunch of fuckups is no reason at all to give the new one a free ride when they continue those fuckups - In fact it tells me they should be held to an even tighter standard. I don't give a flying fuck about party when it comes to things like torture. If you do it, you're guilty. If you help other people get away with doing it, you're guilty. Playing party games like what is obviously happening is fucking sickening to me
