Telegraph UK picks up the story! Jane Harman 'recorded on wiretap promising to intervene...
The allegation against Representative Jane Harman were made by two former officials who told "Congressional Quarterly" that she was taped by the National Security Agency on a court-approved wiretap.

According to the former officials, Mrs Harman, who is Jewish, told the suspected agent that she would "waddle into" a case involving two officials of the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee, the dominant pro-Israel lobby group "if you think it'll make a difference"...

One former official involved in the AIPAC case was quoted as saying that the Bush administration's decision not to pursue Mrs Harman was the "deepest kind of corruption" possible. "It's a story about the corruption of government - not legal corruption necessarily, but ethical corruption."

That has to be illegal! That is treason!!

1. The whole problem with the case from the beginning
is Feith's well known stupidity.

I don't think Franklin was spying. I think he was making policy.

3. HARMON was not tapped!
She had a conversation with a suspected Israeli agent who was tapped... there was no tap on HER.

"What is new is that Harman is said to have been picked up on a court-approved NSA tap directed at alleged Israel covert action operations in Washington."

Read the whole article. It clearly explains that Harmon herself was never tapped legally or illegally. As a result of the conversation she had with the person who was being tapped, a FISA warrant was applied for to tap her but Gonzo intervened and had the whole investigation including the tap for her thrown out.

As much as it would be nice to believe that Harmon was illegally tapped to get dirt on her, that is not the case here. I absolutely believe that such illegal tapping of congress people occurred for the purpose of blackmailing them, but that is NOT the case here. Gonzo did the blackmailing without needing to tap her at all because she was stupid enough to have that compromising conversation with someone ELSE that was being tapped.

6. I keep making the point, she was caught on a very legal FISA warrant tap
the blackmail (and the illegalities) came later

7. Lots of folks say "treason" when I think "sedition" is a more apt term.

Of course, that opens a whole new can of worms.
