New York Times Wins Five Polks er I mean Pulitzer's
"In your face O'Rielly"

NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Times has won five Pulitzer Prizes for journalism, including one for breaking the news of a prostitution scandal that destroyed the political career of New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer.

The Las Vegas Sun won the Pulitzer Prize for public service on Monday for exposing a high death rate among construction workers on the Las Vegas Strip.

The Detroit Free Press won for local reporting for obtaining a trove of sexually explicit text messages that brought down the city's mayor.

The awards were announced after one of the most depressing years the newspaper industry has ever seen, with layoffs, bankruptcies and closings.

The Pulitzers are the most prestigious award in U.S. journalism.

1. The one I'm happiest about is Eugene Robinson, Washington Post.
So on top of events and written with a cool hand. Congratulations Mr. Robinson.

2. It bordered on cheerleading. But that's what a lot of folks want to read.
The Post's op-ed page stinks.

They've hired Michael Gerson and Kathleen Parker and also have both Krauthammer and Will.

Only 14% of the WP's op eds are written by women. So, for years, Ruth Marcus and Anne Appelbaum were each responsible for 'representing' 26% of the population.

It's dreadful. I read Robinson because he's not the others.
