Has anyone gone back and looked at KSM's "confession" in light of the memos?
I was just struck, as I read in another post, by the memory of Khalid Sheik Mohammed's famous confession, to have killed over 3000 people, to have been responsible for 9/11 from "A to Z", and many other things. He confessed to so many things that it became the butt of late night comedy jokes, where it was said he had confessed to hating kittens, or to stealing candy from children or thousands of other minor ludicrous things.

Little did the public or the entertainers know then just why KSM was confessing to every question put to him. He was being waterboarded every 4 hours in our name. The fact that his dozens of confessions were easy to prove wrong was always blamed on him, not on the monsters torturing him.

Shameful. I think any performer who used the KSM Confession joke line should make a public statement that they did not mean to profit from the misery of another human being, done in the name of our "national security", even one as awful as KSM might have been.

1. I think most people who followed what was going on with KSM
understood much of what he'd been through-

I don't think we've heard it all- perhaps not even the worst of it. We had his children too. And we used them to try and make him talk.

2. The problem is Bush officials and their followers and enablers, not comedians. NT

3. yeah, not really blaming the comedians, I guess
I laughed at the jokes at the time, too. No one ever came out and said the reason for all the confessions was torture, though. I think it was still sort of hidden.

I do think, though, that it would be powerful if Leno or Letterman or whoever had that as a running gag for a week or so to make a statement about it.

4. I knew why he was confessing. The torture was an "open secret'
and the credible reports included not only his physical and mental torture but also information such as we threatened harm to his children as well.

KSM cannot in justice be charged with or convicted of any of the crimes he confessed to.

6. And Bush had his 2 little kids in custody too. Didn't even need to torture him

He would have said anything to protect them. Can you imagine what these thugs did to his kids to get KSM to admit to everything?
