Boehner: It’s ‘Almost Comical’ To Say Carbon Dioxide And Climate Change Are Dangerous Since Cows
Fart A Lot (Oh yes he did!)

http://thinkprogress.org/2009/04/20/boehner-carbon-cow-fart/

Last week, the EPA “formally declared carbon dioxide and five other heat-trapping gases to be pollutants that endanger public health and welfare, setting in motion a process that will lead to the regulation of the gases for the first time in the United States.” Following the announcement, House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) immediately issued a statement claiming that it was “nothing more than a back-door attempt to enact a national energy tax.”

On ABC’s This Week yesterday, host George Stephanopoulos pressed Boehner to explain what the Republican plan was to deal with climate change. First, Boehner said they believed in an “all of the above energy strategy.” But when Stephanopoulos noted that their drilling plan “doesn’t do anything when it comes to emissions,” Boehner called the idea that carbon dioxide is dangerous “comical“:

1. It IS comical to hear a Republicon Homelander Chickenhawk discuss 'science'
Edited on Mon Apr-20-09 05:37 PM by SpiralHawk
Americans long ago - via hard experience -- learned never to trust any of the BS spouted by the Chickenhawk Party. This latest load of crap is yet FURTHER proof. They are the Latter Day Pharisees, the Know Nothing Party of Today. Pathetic.

I - and my cow - fart in their general direction.

John Boehner - YET ANOTHER Republicon Homelander Chickenhawk

5. Maybe someone should ask him if he's in favour of drinking untreated sewage
After all, that comes out of animals too, doesn't it? How could it possibly be dangerous? :sarcasm:

6. 97% of Venus's atmosphere is CO2
Average temperature 864° F.

That's how funny CO2 can be.

10. I'm not sure that arguement carries
much weight. Venus is 67 million miles from the sun while Earth is 91 million. Plus a Republican would ask you where is the CO2 coming from on Venus?

11. Source of CO2 is irrelevant to the effect it has on the planet
The point is that CO2 in sufficient quantities is deadly.

And the question is not where is the CO2 coming from in Venus, but what happened to the rest of the gases?

Read Scientific American, May 2009, How Planets lose their atmospheres.

9. cows don't fart carbon dioxide
They fart methane gas, which is a more persistant greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide.

And, yes, Boehner, the American high red meat diet is also a contributor to climate change. Hah!Hah! very funny. not.

12. Apropos of absolutely nothing,
Boehner always reminds me of the actor who portrayed the gangster Frank Nitti on the old TV show, "The Untouchables." Except that I don't recall that character appearing sloshed as much as Boehner does.

Global Effects
Ice sheet changes affect sea level. In the last 2 decades, ice caps and glaciers have been disappearing at a rapid rate. In 1978, John Mercer predicted that the collapse of the ice sheet would be a precursor signal of global warming.
Snow and ice melt contribute 50% of the sea level rise (20% from Greenland, 10% from Antarctica, and 20% from elsewhere). The remaining 50% is caused by thermal expansion of the ocean. As average temperatures rise, the water molecules move further apart.
The current average atmospheric CO2 level is 370 ppm. The highest historical level in the Vostok ice core is 275 ppm.
Conclusion
There is general consensus from the scientific community that global warming is real and is currently occurring, except for a small but vocal minority.
The Conference Board, a corporate think tank, recently made the following observations:
The greenhouse effect is “real and intensifying”,
human activity is contributing to this, and
corporate boards should be evaluating the risks of continuing business as usual.

15. George didn't say anything about any carcinogens.
"STEPHANOPOULOS: So what is the responsible way? That's my question. What is the Republican plan to deal with carbon emissions, which every major scientific organization has said is contributing to climate change?

BOEHNER: George, the idea that carbon dioxide is a carcinogen that is harmful to our environment is almost comical. Every time we exhale, we exhale carbon dioxide. Every cow in the world, you know, when they do what they do, you've got more carbon dioxide."

George didn't say anything about any carcinogens.

No wonder the GOP effed up the entire world. They start a sentence about Afghanistan and the rest of the geniuses think he's talking about a blanket.

My fourth graders have to pass listening and reading tests to see if they can follow a line of reasoning and get the main idea.

Let's administer that to the senate.

16. uh.... fire is dangerous, even if lightning happens alot.?
we humans manipulate fire- we manipulate cows- we manipulate CO2 and we manipulate the climate-

How many animals fight the climate the way we do? None- they adapt themselves to the climate by migrating, hibernating, growing thicker coats and eating different diets- Only humans fight against the natural cycles of the earth.
