Colbert is on a roll about torture tonight. Here's a chuckle on a gravid subject.

Talking about the judge in Spain who said he thinks investigation is not appropriate because the originators of torture were not present when the torture occurred, well Colbert says, "that's just like making love to a woman, and if 9 months later she gives birth, you're not the father".

6. On a night when torture may yet be traced to the originators, when Obama

gave the thumbs up that he has heard our cries, I would say Colbert did well with that.

And, all told, the word gravid might work just fine, because it is a pregnant subject with lots of surprises yet to be hatched.
