We don't know if there was a phone call. These are three unnamed sources, former and present national security officials, who are allegedly selectively leaking information about a phone call or phone calls that may or may not have taken place. I have to say I am outraged that I may have been wiretapped by my government in 2005 or 2006 while I was ranking member on the House Intelligence Committee.

She also said: " No. I can't recall with any specificity a conversation I may have had four years ago."

Yet later in the interview, she said, "The person I was talking to was an American citizen." Wait a minute. She cannot recall the conversation, but she knows the person was an American? Siegel is sharp, and he pounced on this:

MR. SIEGEL: But you are saying that you know it was an American citizen. So that would suggest that you know that there was a -

REP. HARMAN: Well, I know that anyone I would have talked to about, you know, the AIPAC prosecution would have been an American citizen. I didn't talk to some foreigner about it.

1. I think it's too soon for the torches and pitchforks. It's worrying. But it's

not clear to me that she needs tarring and feathering yet. I hesitate to do the old 'rush to judgment.'

If you asked me to recall a conversation I had four or five years ago, even over a matter of great personal importance, I don't know how well I would do.

I'd like to hear these tapes, if there are any.

2. Oh I think it is past time for torches and pitchforks.

The evidence that tapping/bribery/blackmail has been happening is the US CONGRESS itself. There is no way that Bush would have gotten away with what he did without the complicity of the US Congress. And now we know how they got it...

4. Well, "The US Congress" is not a static entity. If you start broadbrushing and demanding heads on

pikes without full investigations, you are as bad as "they" are.

The characters setting the agenda and controlling what was permitted to be discussed on the floor of both the House and Senate have changed over the years. The leadership, and the ability to set the agendas, have shifted.

Consequently, I'm in favor of investigation and sunlight, not torches and pitchforks. I've never been a fan of the "Shoot First" method of governance. I certainly didn't like that shit under BushCo, so I'm not going to like it any better now.

3. one interesting aspect that no one has really exposed

What the hell was Gonzales doing blackmailing Harman to support their illegal wiretapping, if they thought it was perfectly legal and acceptable.

There are so many aspects of this story that need to be brought to light, but they are working overtime to bury this story because there are so many higher ups on both sides involved.
