HBO currently running Schindler's List
Timing is interesting in light of the torture memos - Me thinks.

The Sadistic Guard should serve to remind the Repub's of Bush/Cheney, one would think. Schindler tells him his real "power" lies in forgiveness, but the dude would rather kill randomly and beat senselessly.

2. Best and Worst.
Best in its artform, acting and directing.

Worst that it actually happened. And, we nearly let it happen again, only this time with Muslims.

16. It has found a place in my top five, but its not a movie I can watch again.
One time is enough for me.

with Ralph Fiennes.

I had forgotten how good he was in the film. The whole cast was spectacular.

4. Ralph Fiennes.
That's the name that escaped me. He played one very sadistic Nazi guard and yes, it reminded me alot of our last administration.

6. "Why is the top down? It's fucking freezing."
Those are the first lines he speaks in the movie.

I hear that in my mind every time I see him on screen no matter what character he is playing.

12. Can't believe he lost to Tommy Lee Jones for best supporting actor.
I liked The Fugitive but come on Academy, what were you thinking?

10. Me, too. Twice.
The first time I saw it, of all things, Schindler reminded me of my mom who can sell anything to anyone. What a great story.

7. More than likely.
I guess that bite or the too close to home reality of what happened back then when America was the good guys is just our "conscious" or karma at play. I still find the timing an interesting coincidence in light of the news - or I should say - the anniversary date is a coincidence. Perhaps watching this movie or rewatching it will serve as a reminder to "some" or be an eye-opener to others.

15. It is a five part series on PBS about the "settlement" of the US.
Very interesting, I would suggest watching it since it has a lot more to do with the US then what happened in Europe.

13. Watched half of it last night and was weirdly unmoved

I found Speilberg's portrayal of the Jewish community to be at times perverse. I was expecting one of the top 10 movies of all time, but it wasn't.

Maybe it was just too disturbing.

Maybe there was something unnerving about introducing elements of typical Speilbergian melodrama into such an important topic.

Maybe also it's because I saw "Shoah" which is the definitive movie about the holocaust, which dispenses with all melodrama and artifice, and Schindler's List pales by comparison.
