Do you suspect some Democrats knew of/approved of/were informed of torture?...
And how much of a roadblock would it be in not pursuing this to it's bitter end?

Let the chips fall where they may, I say.

Drain the swamp.

1. These will be interesting times.
Goddam right, drain the swamp.

I think some Congressional Dems knew but couldn't speak out about classified stuff.

2. suspect?
It is a given. Probably most did not comprehend the extent of what they were going along with, as, in fairness, neither probably did a lot of republicans. But they knew at the very least that the limits were being pushed - hard.

5. We know they were informed. Ranking members were briefed.
And that was prior to the Abu Ghraib images.

6. Of course they knew.
But they were merely "informed" for national security and Constitutional purposes. They had no decision-making authority in this matter.

7. "approved of"?
Wow, let's make up unfounded speculation and proceed to conducting a witch hunt instead of a real investigation.

14. Committee members (Defense, etc) were given top secret info--very selective, of course...
In other words I think they were often lied to by the Bushites. However they were and are also sworn to secrecy.

I don't know how much culpability is there, but yes, some may have known of torture.

18. At the moment, no.
By that I mean there is absolutely no evidence of any illegal behavior on the part of Democrats, and I see no reason why we would want to expand public suspicion away from the Republicans we know were behind torture and towards Democrats who maybe once were told that somebody thought waterboarding wasn't torture.

20. Why do you think certain key Democrats dug in their heels and fought
tooth and nail against impeachment or any investigations even though they were in control of both houses of Congress for two years already? There are plenty of Democrats up to their eyeballs in all this shit too. They knew what was going on, and anyone who says they didn't is in denial.

You're right, Postman. Drain the swamp indeed.
