That was it in a nutshell. He had some stupid analogy (paraphrase) that worrying about torture in an economic climate like this is like answering your cellphone while you're sliding down an icy cliff headed towards an abyss.

This was Morning Joe.

1. Martin was one of CNN's embeds with US forces in 2003-2004...
...I don't think I'd trust him on this.

3. I'm not advocating his position, just relating it to watch where the spin is headed. nt

12. I know you're not - it's just that he sets off my dick-dar whenever I see him...

...due to his slobbering reports from Iraq 6 years ago. Plus he has one of those grating, Stone-Phillips-esque deliveries...;)

2. Quick...Change The Subject...
In some ways I agree...our country seems fixated on the flavor or scandal of the moment and that seems to be all consuming...but whose the one leading the way? Our beloved corporate media. While many of us, including President Obama, can walk and chew gum at the same time, the beltway stenographers seem to handle only one story at a time. One week its the economy, next its torture, next its a dead blonde then onto pirates...disjointed and lacking of both focus and fact.

No doubt the media wants to "move forward"...as any look back, such as at torture and the war crimes of the boooosh regime, show their ineptness and complicity.

4. The media is always moving forward, like a shark
Their long term attention span on important topics is always bad.

5. Ol' Martin seemed to fit right into the show's agenda for the morning.
It's almost like the group is blackmailing Dems with statements that say Pelosi knew about the torture and asked if it shouldn't be even tougher. So, if you Dems want to go down this road..........be careful what you wish for. It's disgusting.

6. Guy might be suspect, but economy crashing is more important, esp to those in dire need.

10. It's not an EITHER/OR proposition. We don't forget the economy while investigating war crimes.

7. Chuck Todd: "America doesn't have the stomach for a trial." There you have it.
Morning Joe is making it it's mission to sweep away the issue.

8. I've heard a lot of that nonsense of late
When Obama focuses on the economy, they have tea parties and call him a socialist. When he mentions the war crimes, they say he should focus on the economy.
