How would India react to a nuclear-armed Taliban?

My guess is not very lightly at all. A nuclear rogue Taliban state is a serious threat to the US, but even much more of a direct immediate threat to India.

2. I think we can assume that they wouldn't just sit back
and do nothing. Neither would much of the rest of the world.

3. I'm sure that both India and Israel would take swift action
Hell, Israel's on the verge of bombing Iran on the suspicion that they're building nukes. I could see where they would decide to make it a two-fer.

I'm afraid we're looking at a pre-WWI situation all over again here.

5. There are very few countries that would tolerate the Taliban
having control of nukes. I suspect that includes much of the ME, all of Europe, the U.S. and Canada, and I don't think that China would be too happy about it either.

4. This is appears to be a "you made your bed now lie in it" issue
Intermittent US Sanctions

On several occasions, under the authority of amendments to the Foreign Assistance Act, the U.S. has imposed sanctions on Pakistan, cutting off economic and military aid as a result of its pursuit of nuclear weapons. However, the U.S. suspended sanctions each time developments in Afghanistan made Pakistan a strategically important "frontline state," such as the 1981 Soviet occupation and in the war on terrorism.
