They wanted to prosecute Bill Clinton for... well, just take a look.

From the Washington Times:

"Above the law
Bill Clinton gets away with perjury

When Independent Counsel Robert Ray described his deal with William Jefferson Clinton which ignored Mr. Clinton's perjurious testimony before a federal grand jury and obstruction of justice, Clinton defender, Rep. John Conyers, was delighted at the end of this "long national farce over an extramarital affair."

But the "farce" was in the meticulous evasiveness of the language in the deal that allowed even Ken Starr to say "

From Accuracy in Media:

Conservatives were heartened by George W. Bush's nomination of John Ashcroft to be the next Attorney General. Here, after all, is a man with the values, integrity and courage to step into what has been under President Clinton and Janet Reno, the most corrupt and politicized Justice Department in memory. Whether it was Waco, the cover-up surrounding the death of Vincent Foster, campaign fundraising scandals, the illegal seizure of Elian Gonzalez, or missing e-mails, Janet Reno could always be counted on to cover for the Clintons and do their dirty work.

Can the Bush administration be counted on to let the chips fall where they may in its pursuit of justice regarding the past eight years?

...

And though Independent Counsel Robert Ray has made it clear that he still has an active grand jury, and might want to talk to Monica Lewinsky again, we doubt if he's really planning to indict Bill Clinton once he's out of office.

Putting Clinton on trial for his perjury and obstruction of justice in the Lewinsky affair is a decision for Robert Ray to make.

By John Fund on National Review:

Wanted to indict the Clintons on Whitewater, yes, that is sooo much more serious than simulated death through waterboarding.

http://www.nationalreview.com/lowry/lowry011101.shtml

And here's David Limbaugh on WorldNutDaily whining that Clinton didn't get indicted for everything from Whitewater to the sinking of the Titanic.

ISLAM KARIMOV, President of Uzbekistan, boils people alive. Why? For the same reason Saddam Hussein put his enemies in a shredder: because, at the time, he could.

When the West is your pal you are able, quite literally, to get away with murder. And what murder!

It is a surprise Karimov has time for governing at all, once he has spent the morning formulating new ways to poach, grill, tenderise, smoke and flambe his citizens to death. Boiling water, electrocution, chlorine-filled gas masks, drowning, rape, shooting, savage beatings, Karimov's Uzbekistan is the absolute market leader in torture right now.

The CIA would not shop anywhere else, which is why a mysterious Gulfstream 5 executive jet routinely delivers terrorist subjects from Afghanistan there for interrogation and, perhaps, percolation..snip"

06/26/03: Let me introduce you to our presidents new best friend, President Karimov of Uzbekistan.

President Karimov government was awarded $500m in aid from the Bush administration in 2002. The SNB (Uzbekistan's security service) received $79m of this sum.

The U.S. State Department web site states "Uzbekistan is not a democracy and does not have a free press. Many opponents of the government have fled, and others have been arrested." and "The police force and the intelligence service use torture as a routine investigation technique."

If you think for one minute detainees are simply being "razzed" then you need to read this. Our government tells the public bold-faced lies. There is no other way to put it when they say they do not condone torture. After British ambassador to Uzbekistan Craig Murray told 60 Minutes "of the range of advanced techniques used by Uzbek interrogators:

"drowning and suffocation, rape was used . . . and also immersion of limbs in boiling liquid" and
"wo nights later on ABC's World News Tonight, Craig Murray told of photos he received of an Uzbek interrogation that ended with the prisoner actually being boiled to death!"

he was fired.

2. I'm going to recommend this thread in large part for this post.
I'm doing it for those that don't have a major problem with rendition.
