Celebrities come out to suggest putting Dick Cheney behind bars

NY Daily News

As is tradition, Robert De Niro and Graydon Carter threw their Tribeca Film Festival opening-night party last week at the state criminal courthouse — and the location inspired celebrity guests to discuss the possible prosecution of Dick Cheney.

The formerly tightlipped VP has been accusing President Obama of risking national security by releasing CIA documents about waterboarding and other torture used against terror suspects — including the fact that he authorized it in 2002. Cheney called it legal, but human rights activists have called for his indictment.

Bono told us, "I was delighted that they published the stuff," but wasn't sure Cheney should be tried.

Author Salman Rushdie didn't sugarcoat his feelings. "I want to see Cheney in jail," he told us. "There used to be a tradition in this country that when people leave office, they shut the hell up. President Bush has done that. If Vice President Cheney could learn that lesson, the world would be a better place. "

1. What is the deal with the right-wing stick shoved up Bono's ass?
I like his music, but hanging out with Bush and a luke warm attitude about prosecuting Cheney has made me really not like the guy.

3. He's playing nice for the money for his causes ...
... when you have a pet-cause, and acquaintances on both sides of the aisle with very deep pockets and far-reaching connections, you go out of your way not to piss any of them off, lest the exposure/invitations and funding dry up.
