3 Va. men hurt in shooting at Hampton University

By STEVE SZKOTAK – 28 minutes ago

HAMPTON, Va. (AP) — A former Hampton University student armed with three guns followed a pizza delivery man into the student's former dorm early Sunday, shot the delivery man and a dorm monitor, then turned the gun on himself, university officials said. All three survived.

No current students were injured and both victims and the alleged shooter were expected to recover. Officials could offer no motive for the shooting.

Hampton President William R. Harvey, who said he arrived within 15 minutes of the shooting, told a news conference the campus shooting could have been much worse.

"I think we are very, very fortunate. This could have been another — you fill in the blank," Harvey said.

The 18-year-old former student, who is from New York City, apparently parked his car off campus to avoid a vehicle checkpoint at Hampton's main gate, then followed the pizza delivery man on foot and inside a freshman dormitory, Harkness Hall. Once inside, he shot the pizza man and entered the monitor's office and fired three shots at him, then shot himself, Hampton University Police Chief Leroy Crosby said.

14. Dose? Where can I get this dose? I hear there's an epidemic out there!
An epidemic of gun violence.

I'm assuming all those anti-gun nuts are busily arming criminals with hand guns, so I propose buying an RPG to counter that threat. Now, if the criminals get RPGs, then I could work my way up to an M1 Abrams tank, but then if they get an M1 . . .

18. Every mass shooting riles them up- possibly because deep down inside they realize

that their dysfunctional attitudes and beliefs- and the policies that they support play a major role in the epidemic (which other nations have managed to avoid).

Maybe there's a bit of guilt born of self-reflection, underneath the gun obessions.

written by a vet.

"They need their guns to protect them from life and their god to protect them from death."

15. It's less the cowardice and shallow bravado that's creepy- it's utterly sick and twisted logic
Virginia's whack gun laws that enourage proliferation are a primary factor in these repeated mass shootings- a very basic fact that for whatever reason, people seem adament to deny.

Now, if it were only Virginia that was affected by their irresponsible laws, that would be one thing- but that's proven not to be the case. States like Virgina are an impediment to rational public safety solutions that are attemtped elsewhere.

10. What gives me the creeps is knowing people want to disarm victims while allowing criminals to arm
themselves.

Self-defense is a personal problem because government is not obligated to protect an individual.

6. When you're insulted by the usual suspects as being an NRA plant gun nut
ask them if they are willing to put a sign in front of their house that says "Gun free zone"

There will be much spinning, evading and dodging but no 'yes' answer.

25. Police officers lose submachine gun and pistol
Dateline: WILSON, North Carolina Two police officers who came to town to teach a gun safety course lost a submachine gun and a handgun out of the back of their pickup truck. They couldn't find the weapons, but commuters did.

The officers came from Raleigh on Tuesday to teach a submachine-gun certification course sponsored by Wilson Technical Community College, authorities said.

After they arrived, they realized that two bags of gear were missing from the back of their pickup. The bags held one MP-5 submachine gun, one handgun, several spare magazines, notebooks and other supplies for the class.

30. Don't know the details
Was that the reason for the shooting?

Just found this link and find this way too ironic:

The three victims were all involved with the Town & Gown Players Inc., a group that had planned an evening performance of "Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure" at the theater. The show was canceled after the shooting.

I suspect this was also Zinkhan's final adventure.
