The framing of the torture debate -

They (Cheney, Meet the Press, et al) are framing the torture debate as if it worked, then it's OK.

The real issue is not 'does torture work', but 'is torture a crime?'.

Here's where their framing is headed:

If torture works then why don't we use it on children when we know they are lying!

If torture works then why don't we use it in regular police investigations!

If torture works then why don't we use it in congressional hearings!

If torture works then why don't we use it to find out if there is global warming!

etc. etc.........

1. Agree. It's about the rule of law.
This country will never recover from what
ails it until the rule of law is restored
and enforced.. no exceptions.

2. Why don't we use on Bush's administration, is my question.
Torture a few White House folk, see what we can learn about Cheney and Bush. Hell, torture Cheney. We have more evidence he committed crimes of treason and terror than they had against most of the people they tortured at Abu Graib.

3. Excuse me, but who is it you think was the Messiah?
Because some of us have no idea who you're talking about.
