Perhaps Dem leadership was right to not punish Lieberman
I doubt Specter would have switched parties without seeing how Lieberman was not punished. I still wish they had punished Lieberman but I do recognize that perhaps they had a reason for not doing so.

1. The Senate is largely an old boy's club
and that's the main reason they didn't punish Lieberman.

In any case, as bad as he is, he's still better than most GOPs, including Arlen Spector.

2. Lieberman's actually been a pretty good vote this session.
A hell of a lot better than some Dems I could name. I wanted them to send Lieberman to Uncle Dick Cheney's House of Harmless Frat Pranks, but they've more or less kept him under control. I hope they can do the same with Arlen.

3. As much as I dislike Lieberman and groan whenever he speaks
I think it would be wrong to punish someone over who they endorsed. Though speaking at the RNC is grounds for punishment.

4. My bet is that the GOP is making a lot of phone calls to Lieberman right now
hoping to change his party allegiance.
