Snowe calls Specter move 'devastating'.
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/04/28/snowe-calls-specter-move-devastating/

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Sen. Olympia Snowe — one of the three moderate Republicans including Arlen Specter who supported President Obama's stimulus package — told CNN Tuesday that she has also been approached many times about becoming a Democrat, but that it hasn't happened for a while.

"I've been asked, but not recently," she said.

Snowe said the Republican Party never learned its lesson from the "painful" party switch of Sen. Jim Jeffords in 2001.

"For me personally and then for the party, its devastating," Snowe said of Specter's move. "I've always been concerned about the Republican party nationally, about their exclusionary policies towards moderate Republicans. That's not a secretly held view on my part."

20. Wasn't that "Swine Flu Sue" Collins?
Or was it both of them?

Come to think of it, the third R making demands about the stimulus package was -- Arlen Specter.

6. If I lived in Maine, I'd be sending lots of e-mails and making lots
of phone calls to my Senator. She could easily jump on board and have the backing of the people.

22. I sent Senator Snowe an invitation just after the election. It was
a sample wedding invitation card I found in a box of wedding stuff in the attic. I doctored it up to cordially and respectfully ask her to leave the sinking ship she was on and come hang out with us at the "cool kid party".

I never got an RSVP but think I have a few more of those cards kicking around...

26. Maybe she needs a reminder. How rude of her not to have
replied to your kind invitation. Tell her there is going to be another party and she is still invited.

30. I received a form letter reply to every other letter I sent to her office
but those were all just regular white paper, business style letters expressing my views on key issues. My guess is it passed through the hands of a loyal GOP aide and ended up in the trash.

18. The story caption on the CNN home page reads "Ticker: GOP Sen. 'devastated' by Specter news"
Edited on Tue Apr-28-09 01:47 PM by FightingIrish
The story itself calls the Specter move devastating but doesn't suggest that she was devastated by it.

Keep teaching them lessons until they learn. And then kick them a couple more times just for spite. ;-)

29. Careful Snowe ... showing concern for Specter will earn you more grief from Repubs...
That foxhole that Snowe, Collins and Specter were occupying just inside the confines of the Repub Party just got a lot emptier.

And don't expect any entreaties to remain loyal to the Repub Party, they don't like you because you are not a rightwing, conservative 'true believer.'
